INTEGO Solo seed treatment now fully registered for field peas

January 20, 2017

Field crop growers in Western Canada have more options for using INTEGOTM Solo seed treatment this year with new label updates approved by the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA).

“The great news for growers is the INTEGO Solo is now fully registered to protect field peas against aphanomyces,” says Roger Rotariu, Western Marketing Manager with Nufarm Agriculture Inc. “We know aphanomyces root rot is devastating and widespread across Western Canada, and these label updates will give growers some great new options to protect their high value pulse crops for the 2017 season.”

INTEGO Solo (Group 22) is the only seed treatment available to protect pulses from aphanomyces – a disease that’s devastating and widespread across the prairies. INTEGO Solo is now fully registered for use on field peas to control seed rot/pre-emergence damping-off caused by Pythium spp., early season root rot caused by Phytophthora sojae and early season root rot caused by Aphanomyces euteiches (suppression only). For the past several years, INTEGO Solo has been receiving emergency use exemptions for field peas.

In sunflower crops, INTEGO Solo is registered to control seed rot/pre-emergence damping-off caused by Pythium spp. and seed-borne downy mildew (Plasmopora halstedii).

Label updates for using INTEGO Solo on legumes include a new rate of 19.6-39.1 mL/100 kg of seed (7.5-15 g ai/100 kg seed) to allow for a higher rate in high disease pressure areas, and the removal of all grazing restrictions.

“Aphanomyces is everywhere and if you’ve grown pulses in the last five years, your soil is probably harbouring aphanomyces,” says Rotariu. “INTEGO Solo’s expanded label means more growers will have an effective way to keep it out of their crops.”

INTEGO Solo also provides important protection for soybeans against Phytophthora sojae – a devastating disease that has a significant impact on yield. Phytophthora is prevalent in heavy, clay soil and causes seed rot or damping off in soybeans. INTEGO Solo is an effective way to protect soybeans from the hidden threat of Phytophthora sojae.

INTEGO Solo is registered for pythium control and suppression of seed rot in pulse crops and soybeans. INTEGO Solo uses a different chemical group than other seed treatments to strengthen the fight against pythium resistance. Tank mixing INTEGO Solo with another seed treatment will extend the protection to control key diseases like seed- and soil-borne fusarium.
