BlackHawk® herbicide is a strong pre-seed burndown solution for battling tough weeds like Group 2- and glyphosate-resistant kochia, cleavers, and volunteer canola in cereals and soybeans.

Active ingredients:  Group 14 (pyraflufen-ethyl) , Group 4 (2,4-D ester)
Rainfast:  1 hour
Treatment rates: One case treats 60 acres at 300 mL/ac., one drum treats 320 acres at 300 mL/ac.
Tank-mix order:  BlackHawk, glyphosate
Notes:  Fall applications can be made until freeze up with no cropping restrictions the following season. For best results make applications to actively growing weeds. Like other herbicides best results will be achieved with applications on warm fall days 2-3 days after and prior to frost events. For best results, use higher water volumes for good coverage and contact activity.

Weed Control Challenge

Glyphosate alone used to provide an effective burndown option in cereal crops. But the widespread adoption of glyphosate-tolerant canola, and the alarming spread of glyphosate- and Group 2-resistant kochia, has dramatically reduced the effectiveness of glyphosate-only control programs.

Nufarm Solution

Get control of winter annuals after harvest with BlackHawk® herbicide.  Featuring two modes of action (Group 14 & 4), BlackHawk delivers faster, more complete weed control in a fall burndown burndown than glyphosate. Control weed growth from late summer through to early winter with the power and resistance management of BlackHawk.

  • Proven resistance management with two non-Group 2 modes of action that target broadleaf weeds
  • Faster control through systemic and contact activity
  • Better performance compared to glyphosate alone for fall or pre-seed burndown

  • Makes in-crop weed control easier and more effective by having only new, small weeds present at time of application
  • Provides broad-spectrum weed control, including excellent control of narrow-leaved hawk’s-beard in the fall and at 1-2 leaf in spring
  • No surfactant needed when applied with glyphosate
